About me

What might you need?

If you want someone to truly listen to how you’re feeling, to the problems you’re experiencing without being judged, I can help.    Counselling can help you find ways to feel better about yourself, feel less stuck and support you to move forward with your life, at your pace.

Are feelings of anxiety or overwhelm affecting your daily life and holding you back?  Maybe you spend your days feeling worried, on edge, hopeless or depressed but pretend to others you’re fine.

Are you waking up every day feeling lonely, lost or sad after a loss of someone or something?  Perhaps however hard you try, personal or work relationships seem like such a struggle and you become frustrated or angry.

Emotions can leave us feeling confused and sometimes it’s hard to understand why you feel the way you do right now, and that’s ok.  These are all things that I can help you start to make sense of through counselling.    I’ll listen without judgement, hear what it’s like for you, and we’ll explore your feelings and situation together.   I can support you in finding ways to feel better about yourself, feel less stuck, gain confidence and more resilience.     Sometimes just sharing what you’re going through can feel like a weight’s been lifted from your shoulders.

How I work

First and foremost I will listen, patiently without judgement.   Each client is unique so counselling will be tailored to you and what you need.

I provide a quiet, confidential space just for you where my aim is to build a warm, respectful and trusting relationship between us.  You can talk about how you’re feeling, how your situation is affecting you and what you need help with.  Sometimes it’s hard to know what you need or to make sense of your emotions, so I’ll help you untangle the confusion, support you as you try to make some sense from it all, help you to understand what you might need and start taking steps towards feeling better about yourself and your life.

How we experience others and behave in all kinds of relationships affects our view of ourselves, others and the world around us. By creating a healthy, respectful and trusting relationship between us, I can explore your world with you, support you to grow, create changes within yourself, helping you change the way you view yourself and others around you.  Together we might explore feelings, relationships, how you see yourself and why that might be.

Being a counsellor isn’t about giving advice or having all the answers.  I strongly believe that you know more about yourself than you realise, and I will work with you to explore and understand yourself better, gain clarity and make sense of your experiences.  I can help you build confidence, resilience and we can work together to start the process of growth and healing from whatever it is that’s affecting you right now.

I offer 50 minute weekly sessions, in person or online.   Most clients find weekly sessions beneficial, especially during the early stages, however the frequency can differ depending on various circumstances.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling Practitioners (BACP), working to and abiding by their Ethical Framework.  I also attend regular supervision and engage in ongoing professional development, both of which support and enhance my practice.

Who I work with

I welcome and work with any adults over 18.

Sometimes clients come to me feeling lost or stuck with how to move forward.  It can be something obvious like grief, loss, a significant life transition or something less tangible like anxiety or knowing something isn't quite right but not understanding what.    Some issues can link to past relationships or repeated patterns of behaviour.  Counselling can lead to a greater understanding of ourselves and how we can perhaps create change and move forward in life.

I have special interest in supporting adults to work through traumatic relationship and childhood experiences including:

  • Emotional, physical and sexual abuse
  • Parental separation or divorce
  • Family estrangement
  • Loss of any kind and related grief

Our First Session

I provide a quiet, confidential space just for you where my aim is to build a warm, respectful and trusting relationship between us.  Our first session will give you the opportunity to talk about how you’re feeling, how your situation is affecting you and what you need help with.  Don't worry if you feel unsure about this, we can explore together what it is you might need and talk more about how we can work on this together.

There's no pressure to return or agree to a certain number of sessions.  If we decide to work together we can agree on how many sessions seems appropriate for you, and review this as time goes on.

Making the decision to come to counselling can be daunting and can feel uncomfortable at first talking to someone about your feelings. That's why it's really important you find someone who's the right fit for you so you feel comfortable to talk about whatever you need to.

If you'd like to book a free, no obligation 15 minute call initially to ask any questions, to get a feel for me and whether you think I'm the right fit for you then please use the enquiry form, or contact me via whatsapp or phone.  I'll aim to get back to you within 48hrs.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
