About me

Making the decision to reach out for counselling can be daunting, you may be nervous about asking for help or anxious about talking to someone that you do not know. Reaching out takes courage and indicates that you have a desire for change and at these times I can be available to listen and support you.

I am a fully qualified therapeutic counsellor offering both short and long term individuals counselling to adults (over 18’s)

I am available for face to face, online or telephone sessions. I also offer walk and talk sessions should you prefer to work in the local natural environment.

I work in a person centred/integrative approach which means that I apply various counselling approaches within my practice in order to suit each individual and their way of being.

I have worked with numerous clients both privately and within the NHS.

I have been told that I have “natural warmth”. I believe that I work at a calm and gentle pace with the ability to offer exploration and where relevant some gentle challenge around what might be concerning you.

I believe that it is important in counselling to feel supported and listened to as this can help us to open up and connect with our feelings. By doing so and in time we can begin to feel calmer, stronger and more confident in facing life’s challenges.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
