About me
Hi, I'm David, a caring and compassionate integrative counsellor who works with adults, children, and young people.
I describe my service as holistic & humanistic, which means I see the whole of you as the expert in your life. You will take the lead in directing your sessions, and I will provide you with a space of compassion and empathy where you can explore your thoughts, emotions and beliefs without judgement. Through this space, I will support you in uncovering aspects of your life that may be holding you back from reaching your full potential.
I believe the therapeutic relationship is an important part of your journey to achieving your goals. I aim for us to build a relationship based on trust in which you feel heard, respected, seen and accepted. Within this supportive relationship, you may begin to develop greater self-awareness and self-acceptance, helping you to make sense of your experiences and move towards the changes that feel right for you.
I am currently offering:
- Telephone counselling
- Online counselling (via Microsoft Teams/Google Meet)
- Face-to-face counselling in Sittingbourne and Aylesham (Canterbury)
- Walk and talk sessions in Aylesham and Sittingbourne
If you feel I may be the right counsellor for you, you are welcome to get in touch for further information or to arrange a free 10-minute consultation session.
Training, qualifications & experience
I currently work full-time as a counsellor in private practice and have ongoing experience working as a school counsellor in both primary and secondary school settings. Prior to training as a counsellor, I worked in children’s social care settings and SEMH education provisions. Before this, I also gained experience working within community mental health services for adults.
These roles have given me the privilege of working with clients from a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences, each navigating their own unique challenges on their journey towards improved emotional and psychological well-being.
Qualifications:
- CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (integrative)
- CPCAB Level 3 counselling studies
- CPCAB Level 2 counselling skills
- RQF Level 3 diploma in residential childcare

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
