About me

If you've come across my profile, I'm thinking that you're looking for a change. Maybe you're fed up of always being the strong one and can't pretend any longer. Maybe you want to understand why you never feel good enough. Maybe you're hoping to unpick why you have the same fight over and over again, or maybe you want to know why you struggle to speak up and be assertive in your relationships.

Whatever it is you're dealing with is welcome in therapy with me.

Many people look for mentoring or coaching for their business or sports to help them, and therapy is similar. Searching for a therapist and reaching out for help isn't weak. It's brave, and in doing so, you've already taken the first step towards change.

Therapy can be about many things, for example helping you improve your relationships or how you communicate, helping you make sense of anxiety or other feelings you're struggling with, or about helping you make peace with the past. You lead the pace, and I walk with you.

Who am I and what is therapy like with me?

Hey! I'm David.

I'm an integrative, compassion-focused psychotherapist. In practical terms, this means that I see you as a whole person, that I draw from different theories and approaches, and that I sit alongside you while we make sense of things together at a pace that you're comfortable with.

I don't believe there's a one-size-fits-all approach in therapy. What I do believe is that you're the expert on your life and that healing often begins when you feel safe and accepted as who you are.

Therapy with me is a space where you're able to focus on yourself, uncover more about who you are, and help you get to a better place emotionally where you feel more equipped to deal with the challenges you're facing.

The alliance and relationship that we create together is at the heart of good therapy. We can meet either in-person in my office or you can choose to meet me online from the comfort of your own space, whichever works best for you.

Above all, I will hold a space for you where you can stop pretending and just be you. Some sessions may be heavy or difficult and others might be lighter - there's often space for laughter. I won't shy away from difficult conversations with you either, as these often are the times that bring about lasting change and growth.

What is my availability?

Currently, I have appointments available on:

  • Monday mornings (in-person),
  • Monday afternoons (online),
  • Thursday evenings (online), and
  • Saturday mornings (online).

If these days don't suit you, please do ask and I will do my best to accommodate you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have been practicing as a psychotherapist since 2025. I have a BSc (Hons) in Counselling & Psychotherapy from PCI College, Belfast, and have further training on grief, working with survivors of sexual violence, and working with male clients who experienced domestic abuse.
