About me

Are you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, or carrying more than you can manage on your own? Perhaps you're struggling with low mood, stress, relationship difficulties, grief, or trying to make sense of experiences that continue to affect your life. Whatever has brought you here, I offer a safe, supportive space where you can talk openly and be listened to without judgement.

My name is Darrel Thomas, and I am a Humanistic and Integrative Counsellor offering accessible and affordable counselling for adults. I believe that therapy is not about being told what to do; it is about being understood, exploring what matters to you, and finding a way forward that feels right for your life.

With over thirteen years' experience supporting children, young people, and families within residential and social care settings, I have developed a deep understanding of how trauma, neurodivergence, attachment wounds, and difficult life experiences can shape emotional wellbeing. Alongside my counselling work, this experience allows me to bring both compassion and practical understanding to the challenges people face.

My therapeutic approach is rooted in humanistic, person-centred values while drawing on pluralistic and integrative principles. I recognise that every individual is unique, and I tailor therapy to meet your needs, preferences, and goals. Together, we can explore your experiences, build on your strengths, and work towards meaningful change at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

I have experience supporting clients with anxiety, depression, self-esteem difficulties, trauma, bereavement, anger, neurodiversity, gender transition, and borderline personality disorder.
