I have over eleven years’ experience of the counselling field. The support one person can offer another is deeply coded into us all. As a Therapist I work with clients to support and encourage their development within many areas of their lives, from addiction and depression to support with personality disorders and anxiety. I work in an integrative style, with elements of psychodynamic and behavioural therapeutic styles. I have found that therapy can provide a stable foundation for you to build on whatever your hopes and dreams. Whether you need support to deal with a problem or long term therapeutic work I believe that I can help.
To get started
Please call or email me to book an assessment and if you decide to go ahead we can either book in ongoing sessions or a fixed term set of sessions. You can also book an assessment via my website.
What is an Assessment?
This is a relaxed informal session for you to express what you are looking for and together we can see what is the best course of action for you and your recovery. I have links with other organisations and therapists that I can signpost you to if need be.
Will my sessions be confidential?
In short yes. There are very few exceptions which we will cover in detail at the assessment. I am governed by the BACP code of practice which can be found here https://www.bacp.co.uk/events-and-resources/ethics-and-standards/ethical-framework-for-the-counselling-professions/
Training, qualifications & experience
- MSc - Psychology and Counselling
- 12 years of experience working in Addiction Treatment, Depression and anxiety
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
Tuesdays & Thursdays 09:00 - 19:00
Other days and times can be discussed
Our first session is key to us both looking to how we can work together and for you to express what you are looking for or what you feel the problem might be. Together we can establish what you may need and if you are comfortable with me to move forward.
Whether you choose to work with me or not my aim is to provide as much support as I can and offer alternatives wherever applicable. I can refer to a variety of alternative services if need be.
