About me

About me
I have over eleven years’ experience of the counselling field. The support one person can offer another is deeply coded into us all. As a Therapist I work with clients to support and encourage their development within many areas of their lives, from addiction and depression to support with personality disorders and anxiety. I work in an integrative style, with elements of psychodynamic and behavioural therapeutic styles. I have found that therapy can provide a stable foundation for you to build on whatever your hopes and dreams. Whether you need support to deal with a problem or long term therapeutic work I believe that I can help.

To get started
Please call or email me to book an assessment and if you decide to go ahead we can either book in ongoing sessions or a fixed term set of sessions.  You can also book an assessment via my website. I offer therapy via an online platform, telephone or face-to-face at either of my clinics.

What is an Assessment?
This is a relaxed informal session for you to express what you are looking for and together we can see what is the best course of action for you and your recovery.  I have links with other organisations and therapists that I can signpost you to if need be.

Will my sessions be confidential?
In short yes.  There are very few exceptions which we will cover in detail at the assessment.  I am governed by the BACP code of practice which can be found here https://www.bacp.co.uk/events-and-resources/ethics-and-standards/ethical-framework-for-the-counselling-professions/

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Online Sessions
With life moving at a faster and faster pace I offer online therapy via a video call platform. Times and days can be either set or flexible to suit you and what is going on in your life at the time.

Our first session
Our first session is key to us both looking to how we can work together and for you to express what you are looking for or what you feel the problem might be. Together we can establish what you may need and if you are comfortable with me to move forward. Whether you choose to work with me or not my aim is to provide as much support as I can and offer alternatives wherever applicable. I can refer to a variety of alternative services if need be.
