About me

PLEASE NOTE THAT I AM NOW ON MATERNITY LEAVE. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO EMAIL ME IF YOU WOULD LIKE MORE DETAILS ABOUT MY RETURN DATE TO WORK. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING IT IS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.

I set up the Sanctuary Counselling to offer adults and young people a place where they can talk about what is on their mind and what is happening in their lives free from judgement and opinions. My approach to counselling is humanistic, this means I believe in you, and your ability to make changes in your life.

If you would like someone to talk to, if you would like a safe space to explore what is going on in your life, if you are feeling stressed at work, home or with your studies, if you having troubles in your relationships with friends or family, or if you are feeling low but not really sure why then perhaps counselling can help.

The Sanctuary offers a safe and confidential service at a peaceful and easily accessible venue. We will have an initial assessment where you can decide if you would like to continue working together and find a way forward with any troubles you may be having. There is no obligation after this first session, and there is no problem too big or too small.

The Sanctuary offers sessions to adults and young people, aged 11+, on both a long and short term basis.

When working with young people under the age of 16, parents are asked to come along to the first part of the assessment, whereby we will go over the confidentiality policy together. This should only take around 10 minutes.

I can offer low cost counselling to young people, students and those on low incomes. Please get in touch to discuss your needs or to ask any questions you may have.

I can also offer online counselling via Email and Instant Messaging. Please get in touch for more details.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Accessibility

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

Wheelchair user access

Unfortunately at the current venue I am not wheelchair accessible, however I would endeavour to find a suitable venue should this be a specified need. Please get in touch to discuss and arrange.
