**RETURN TO WORK ANNOUNCEMENT**
Firstly, thank you so much for your patience over the last 20 months.
Unfortunately my return to work coincided with the start of COVID. I am going through this with you and it's so tough. As you can imagine childcare at this time is very difficult so I am only able to offer an online service, predominantly via email with limited zoom sessions available. I know it won't suit everyone but I'm hoping it's a start and will provide support to some of you.
Please get in touch if you want further details or are interested in beginning counselling in this way but as a brief introduction working together via email will include:
- A client writing an email once per week
- Receiving a written response from me within 48 hours
- An agreed time and day which I will receive the email by allowing me the allocated time to respond
- The same amount of time given to each email as a conventional session allowing the exchange to be matched evenly on both sides
Whilst I understand some of you may be thinking working via email should be much cheaper than a face-to-face or even zoom face-to-face session, I want to assure you that the time I give you will remain just as focused.
In order for you to try this new mode of counselling and decide whether you feel it works for you, I am offering the first two sessions at a reduced rate of £30 for over 18s and £20 for under 18s.
As ever though, I do not want finances to be a barrier to you receiving support, so please do get in touch if this is not affordable and we can discuss reduced rates. I can't guarantee I can offer an ongoing reduced rate to everyone but I will always try my best to accommodate where I can.
Thank for you all for reading, and once again thank you so much for your patience!
Best and warmest regards,

I have 5 years Counselling experience working with adults and young people in a variety of settings, and 15 years experience working with adults and young people in supporting, caring and mentoring roles.
I set up the Sanctuary Counselling to offer adults and young people a place where they can talk about what is on their mind and what is happening in their lives free from judgement and opinions. My approach to counselling is humanistic, this means I believe in you, and your ability to make changes in your life.
If you would like someone to talk to, if you would like a safe space to explore what is going on in your life, if you are feeling stressed at work, home or with your studies, if you having troubles in your relationships with friends or family, or if you are feeling low but not really sure why then perhaps counselling can help.
The Sanctuary offers a safe and confidential service at a peaceful and easily accessible venue. We will have an initial assessment where you can decide if you would like to continue working together and find a way forward with any troubles you may be having. There is no obligation after this first session.
The Sanctuary offers sessions to adults and young people, aged 11+, on both a long and short term basis.
When working with young people under the age of 16, parents are asked to come along to the first ten minutes or so of the assessment, nothing confidential needs to be discussed in this time.
I can offer low cost counselling to young people, students and those on low incomes. Please get in touch to discuss your needs or to ask any questions you may have.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
Fees for adults start at £40.00 per session
Fees for young people start at £30.00 per session
I can offer discounted fees on block bookings.
Please get in touch to further discuss your needs, as I would not like for the cost of counselling to be a prohibiting factor in you accessing support.
When I work
Regular hours are Monday - Friday 9 - 4. After school slots are available, some weekend and evening slots also available. Please get in touch to arrange.
I am a registered member of the BACP and work within their ethical framework. I am committed to equality, diversity and a fair service for all. I believe that given the right environment everybody is capable of change and growth.
