About me
Do you need someone to talk things through with?
Are you feeling anxious or depressed?
Are you burdened by negative thoughts about the past?
Finding life difficult to cope with?
Counselling can help you to make changes for a better life.
Practising in Saltburn, I offer 50 minute sessions of humanistic counselling, working with individuals to help them explore their feelings and to support them in considering any changes they may wish to make in order to make their lives happier and more successful.
I work at the pace of the client and provide a secure non-judgemental environment for reflection and discussion.
Sometimes a person may just want one or two sessions in order to bounce ideas of someone or have someone listen to them talk about events that have upset them. Others may feel that they need longer in order to look at aspects of their lives in more depth.
As a humanistic counsellor I believe that everyone is able to work towards controlling their lives and making good choice – we just sometimes need support.
I believe that as humans we strive for happiness, but sometimes we feel powerless. In counselling you can reflect on what it is that you feel is wrong and I can help you make decisions which will make life better.
I offer an introductory session for £35 in which I explain how I work and you talk about what is concerning you. After that session if you wish to continue we can book a second session and take it from there. All sessions are then charged at £45 each.
As I work in a person-centred way I develop a unique way of working for each client. You will never be expected to talk about things you don’t want to talk about. I will however provide structure and may make suggestions for tasks to do in the session or at home between sessions. Many people find that working creatively helps them to express themselves, I am happy to introduce art or journal work as part of the process.
I am happy to talk about anything that concerns you. I work with adults and young people.
I work through Zoom or phone ( and face to face when possible)

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
