About me

Hello there, my name is Conor. There are times when it is really hard.  Aspects and moments of life can create anxiety, apprehension, sadness and sometimes, even fear. Sometimes we can't figure out what we are feeling, there is just a sense of confusion and low mood. Counselling can offer insights, understanding and an opportunity to change how we see ourselves  and our environment. There will be times when it will not be easy, when we gently challenge the recognised repeat behaviours and patterns. These challenges are done collaboratively, you will not be alone. You will have my support in all moments. There, through reflection and reconnection, a new strength may be found, with answers to the questions and thoughts causing the imbalance.

From my own experience as a client, I felt how counselling provides a safe space to assist working through the negative and non-productive thought processes. It is something that is at the core of my own practice. Your life experiences and identity will be accepted and respected at all times without judgement. You will be in control throughout the process, with your safety and well-being being paramount. My practice is a LGBTQIA friendly space, with safety and confidentiality provided to everyone.

I work using a Pluralistic framework. In essence, this means the sessions will be specifically tailored to you and at a pace that feels right for where you are. Together, we can identify patterns or feelings that disrupt your routine, find the solutions through reflection and understanding, and implement the changes that allow you to navigate life in a more connected way. Within the counselling environment, aspects I have worked with include

  • Grief / Bereavement / Loss
  • Health Diagnoses
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Relationship Issues
  • Family Dynamics
  • Low Self Esteem & Low self Worth
  • Binge Eating Disorder
  • Feeling Lost
  • Stress Management
  • Emotional Well Being
  • Burnout & Overwhelm
  • Developing Self Compassion

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling Practice
  • ASIST - Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training

In conjunction with my counselling training, I have undertaken specific CPD training such as

  • Domestic Abuse Counselling Training
  • Supporting Young People Impacted by Trauma
  • Depression, The Brain and Recovery

Outside of the counselling environment, I continue to work as a freelance equestrian coach, supporting teenagers and adults from a wide range of backgrounds. In addition, I was also a youth worker for over 2 years, based in the Scottish Borders, working in a drop in service, gaining insight to how young people navigate the complexities of their lives. These experiences have reinforced my belief in the importance of creating safe, non-judgemental spaces where people feel heard.
