About me

I have an office space in Glasgow City Centre for in person sessions on Wednesdays and offer remote sessions out with this to help offer a flexible and accessible therapeutic service regardless of preference or distance.

My aim is to provide a supportive therapeutic space to allow my clients to safely explore whatever has brought them to therapy, and whatever may come up throughout the process. My approach to therapy is rooted in my training as a person-centred counsellor while drawing on my experience and understanding of psychology. What this means for my clients is that I use my care, compassion, and curiosity to work at a pace and method that is client-led.

Having successfully provided therapy for a range of difficulties over the past 3 years, my clients have often given feedback that my ability to adapt to their needs with warmth and ask key questions to help deepen their level of self-understanding has been highly effective. My background in psychology also allows me offer insights, when appropriate, to add context to the exploration of emotions, experiences, and motivations. Whether you have a specific concern or issue that you would like support with, or you are uncertain where to begin, I aim to offer the necessary conditions for identifying and exploring how you feel, why you feel that way, and what actions you would like to take, if any.

Clients often come to me for support with grief and bereavement, relational issues, self-esteem problems, identity crises, anxiety, and trauma related to childhood sexual abuse or difficult childhood experiences.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold an MSc in Counselling & Psychotherapy, and a BSc in Psychology & Counselling from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. With additional certification in listening skills from COSCA, and in suicide intervention skills from Public Health Scotland.

I have worked with a diverse range of clients over the past 3 years, helping them to navigate life's challenges with care, warmth, and understanding. My experience out with private therapy includes working as a student counsellor at the University of Glasgow, and providing online counselling as a volunteer through the Crisis Counselling charity in Erskine. I have recently worked with the Counselling Research Clinic at the University of Strathclyde delivering targeted workshops relating to equality, diversity and inclusion in therapeutic practice. During the Covid-19 pandemic, I supported staff and family members at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, offering listening services during a difficult time of ward restrictions and lockdowns.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
