About me

Hi, I am a fully qualified, experienced integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist (level 7). This means I draw from three main approaches, Person Centred, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). This approach gives the ability to tailor counselling to meet your individual needs.

I aim to provide a safe confidential space where you can feel non-judged, supported and valued. I work within the BACP framework for ethical practice providing counselling to adults, young people and couples.

I believe that everyone is a unique individual with the potential to determine their own lives. I seek to treat you with respect and dignity while we work together to explore and gain a deeper sense of your issues. I am empathic and as a Counsellor I feel privileged to work with you, helping you reach goals and the changes you desire. Looking at your problems from different perspectives can result in them becoming easier to manage and within your control.

Problems have often gone on for a long time and can feel overwhelming. Sharing your problems with someone who is able to assist you to work through them, at a pace that best suits you can help you to move forward. Change is within you.

Supervision

I offer clinical supervision to qualified and trainee therapists, individuals and groups. I have experience of providing supervision to multi-disciplinary staff within an organisational setting. I also provide supervision to individuals and groups in educational settings (University and further education), charities, support services and private practice.

I supervise student counsellors and I am happy to write reports required by training providers.

As a supervisor I aim to offer a supportive learning environment, a space to explore and reflect on your counselling practice. Assisting you to extend your knowledge and be creative within your counselling practice. Working with you through ethical dilemmas that arise as we revisit your client work within supervision.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
