About me
I am a BACP Accredited therapist working with adults and young people over the age of 11. I can help with a range of presenting issues, including depression/low mood, anxiety, or low self esteem, and difficult behaviours such as self-harm, or compulsions. It may be that difficult life events (such as bereavement, bullying, separation/divorce, menopause) or childhood trauma are at the root of your difficulties, and I can help you to process these experiences in therapy.
I aim to work openly and empathically with clients, establishing strong and collaborative relationships. I believe that a relationship built on care, warmth, humour and respect is key to a client building self-esteem and self-worth. Therapy is not generally a quick or easy process, but it can pay enormous dividends in terms of a person's capacity for resilience and growth.
My initial training was in the Person-Centred Approach, and this is central to my work - creating a safely held relationship and being led by the needs of the client. I have additional training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and this allows me to work more directly with anxiety, intrusive thoughts and problematic behaviours.
I offer an initial session where we can establish whether what I offer is appropriate and whether we are a good fit. After that, you are free to choose whether or not to proceed with sessions - this initial autonomy and choice is the foundation of the therapy (if needed, I can assist in accessing someone more suitable). Sessions going forward are then generally weekly.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
