About me

Hello and welcome to my page. My name is Clare and I am a Psychodynamic Counsellor. The Psychodynamic approach explores your internal world by thinking about your childhood and your earlier experiences and how they can influence your feelings, fears, motivations and behaviours as an adult.

I work relationally within this model which means I will meet you where you are emotionally. I provide a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space where you can explore any difficult or overwhelming thoughts and feelings you are experiencing at a depth that feels comfortable to you.

We are all unique and so are our experiences. I will work with you to help you to make sense of your experiences and feelings to help empower you to make the changes you are looking for.

I offer individual therapy to all adults from early adulthood at 18 years old through to elder adults also. I provide both short-term and long-term counselling options. I am experienced in working with trauma, self-harm, suicidal ideation, anxiety and depression, but I am here to support you through any overwhelming challenges and stressful life events you may be facing.

Sometimes the first step can be can the hardest. I understand that taking this journey can be difficult and challenging so I am here to work together with you to help guide you through this experience.

If you would like to contact me about starting counselling then please get in touch.

I have completed the certificate of proficiency with the BACP and I regularly attend Continued Professional Development (CPD) courses.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
