About me

Hello, I offer counselling and psychotherapy in private practice in Canterbury. I also work as a counselling tutor and clinical supervisor. I work with neurodivergent individuals and those with a range of mental health and well being issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, loss, stress and relationship difficulties. I work online and in person. (*Currently, I have some daytime availability for sessions online or in-person. I don't have evening or weekend availability.*)

At the heart of my practice is a recognition of the importance of the therapeutic relationship, and you feeling understood, safe and accepted. I offer empathic therapy, understanding and care, to facilitate the changes you want, or support with the difficulties you face.  Things might perhaps feel overwhelming, but know that whatever you bring it is ok; we'll work together to attend to what is hard.

Some people come to therapy for personal development, to gain insight into why they and others do the things they do, or think / feel the way they do. People often want to make sense of what may have happened/be happening in their life, gain awareness of who they are, what affects them, what is important and makes them happy.  Sometimes people come because things are very hard, it's difficult to cope and it's challenging to know the way forward. We all need support sometimes and it is ok to recognise your needs and reach out. Whatever your reason for coming, I offer compassionate support, to ensure your needs are met and your aims supported.

I have completed several advanced trainings and qualifications beyond my original counselling qualification, including an integrative psychotherapy training, which has Transactional Analysis psychotherapy at its core. I draw on a number of ways of working to ensure your needs are most helpfully supported. Overall, I work relationally and aim to offer compassionate interventions and therapy respectful of who you are, your history, journey and choices.

I am passionate about people with differences (whatever they may be) accessing therapy which is affirming and non-traumatising. Your therapy experience is important and I am happy to work with you to ensure your needs are met wherever possible, and your identity and experiences recognised and validated, so that you can access therapy comfortably. My specialisms include: under 18s, differently-abled and neurodivergent people, and those exploring their gender, sexuality and relationships.  I aim to be neurodiversity and LGBTQ affirming.

Drop me an email and we can arrange a time to have a chat either on the phone, or on zoom and see if we might be a good fit to work together.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
