About me

Confronting mental health struggles can be a daunting prospect for anyone, but it's not something you have to go through alone.

My name is Chris, I am a BACP registered Integrative Psychotherapist. I am here to provide a collaborative, supportive and beneficial environment for your personal exploration. I offer a calming and consistent presence in the therapy room, with the intention of providing you with the tools you need to become the person you want to be.

What I bring to the therapy room:

  • Care and attention to your needs
  • Support and room for exploration
  • Flexibility with approaches
  • Genuine engagement and collaboration
  • Security and confidentiality

For athletes, it can even be seen as a sign of weakness. I can assure you this is not the case. I believe mental health for those in sports professions is widely overlooked and dismissed, with many people disregarding the mental side of health and simply focusing on the physical aspects. I strive to help those involved in sport at any level in pursuing a more positive and balanced approach to life and its struggles.

Whether you are dealing with a loss of confidence, performance anxiety, injury or retirement, or anything else that you feel is impacting your ability to enjoy and thrive in your sporting endeavours, I am here to offer a safe place to work together on overcoming these issues.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a level 7 PGDP qualification from the University of Lancashire in Integrative Psychotherapy and am a registered member of the BACP

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
