About me

Maybe you have spent years feeling like you are too much, not enough, or just doing life slightly wrong. Maybe your brain works differently, you're figuring out your identity, something from the past is showing up in the present, or anxiety has taken up too much space. Hi, I'm Charlotte, a neurospicy LGBTQIA+ elder emo (I sit at shows now), proud swiftie, retired showgirl & here to listen to all this drama. Maybe working with me is something you could try? I work with people who are tired of performing, people-pleasing, overthinking & holding it together. You don't need to explain yourself perfectly here. You can just be.

We can sit with uncomfortable things, get curious, make connections and sometimes look at things in a completely different way. I am not here to fix you or tell you what you “should” be doing. This is your space, and we will work out together what you need from it.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

  • I can offer online sessions or in-person.
  • In-person sessions are available on Friday, and held in a super cozy central location in Brighton, near the Old Steine (with lots of lamps - because who wants therapy with the big light on?!)
  • Walk and talk sessions may also be available in Preston Park - with the option to go online when you'd like/ the weather is totally grim.
  • I hold a couple of slots with lower rates from £35, for people who are accessing income support/ would not otherwise be able to access counselling. So please get in touch if you're interested. These slots can be weekly or fortnightly.

Further information

I work with clients who may be struggling with anxiety, trauma, neurodivergence, LGBTQIA identity, relationships or feeling overwhelmed by life. We can make sense of what is going on, notice what you need and find ways of making things feel more manageable. There is no set timeline. We will work at your pace, & build our working relationship in a way that feels supportive for you.

I don't hide behind a clipboard as the superior all-knowing expert, like you might see in films. I bring genuine curiosity & emotional honesty to build trusting relationships (trying to serve realness over here). You're the expert on your life. I offer warmth, honesty & steady support while you explore what matters, what hurts & what you want to change. "Dorothy had the power all along" vibes...
