About me

Finding someone to talk to, finding a therapist who’s right for you is complicated. Take your time.

Let me tell you a bit about me and how I work. If you think we could be a good fit then please book an intro call.

I want to work with you if you want to be in therapy.

If you’ve got niggling anxiety or glaring big signs that are keeping you up at night, if you’re depressed, if your relationships aren't where you want them to be, if you’re not quite where you want to be in life, if you see the past is hovering in your present, then I’d love to work with you.

I’ll work hard to give you the time and space to figure out how you want to use therapy and I'll bring my experience, my training and all the tools I’ve got at my disposal into the room each week.

Training, qualifications & experience

Let me tell you a bit about me, my 10 years experience and how I work.

I am an integrative therapist, that means that I’ve been trained in the big modalities and the prevailing schools of thought so that when I work with a client I can consider what techniques, styles and theories will be most useful for them.

  • It means I can treat you as an individual.
  • No assumptions.
  • No generalisations.

I have an Advanced Diploma from a BACP-accredited course. Being accredited by the BACP lets you know that I work to an agreed set of ethics and standards, and my training did the same.

I’ve also got an academic background in psychology. I have an undergraduate BSc degree and an MSc from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience.

I have over 10 years experience working with the NHS, charity sector and in my private practice.

I’ve been working with people who are distressed, who have big questions, for most of my working life. This includes children and teenagers who couldn’t stomach school, who were kicked out or refused to go. I worked with them as a youth worker and a tutor.

I’ve worked in NHS Crisis Teams with adults experiencing psychosis and other serious mental illnesses.

I’ve worked in the charity sector with people whose suicidal feelings were overwhelming them.

When I’m using that generic ‘I’ve worked with’, what I mean to say is that I’ve talked and listened to people in all sorts of situations, and I’ve been lucky enough to see the whole person.

I have worked with clients from all walks of life. While I can’t know your story, I know what it means to listen to your story.

I am interested and use many theories and schools of thoughts and lean heavily on attachment theory, psychodynamics and relational therapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

What about me being another white, femme-presenting face?

Well, I won’t know your life experience before you walk through the door. Whatever your experience, I will not have walked in your shoes.

But, I will make sure you are only ever educating me on your life and not feeling the responsibility of educating me on a whole group of people’s experiences.

If you come and see me you can expect a space that is:

  • sex positive
  • kink-friendly
  • welcoming of everyone in the LGBTQ+ communities
  • actively looking to explore and undo all systems of oppression and harm

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

I practice in Golders Green and Hackney. Hackney is wheelchair accessible.
