About me
Hello, I'm Charlie.
After years of working with people I understand
I understand what it's like to live with anxiety and depression. I know how hard it can be to open up, especially when life feels overwhelming. I work with people who are finding life increasingly difficult, and it's no surprise! The pressures of everyday life are rising, and this is having a real impact on our mental health.
It's not surprising people are coming to therapy at present
The ongoing cost-of-living crisis is overwhelming many people, with financial worries becoming a daily source of stress for some. High rent, rising food and energy bills, and housing insecurity can create anxiety. For others, workplace stress, long hours, burnout, and job insecurity are leading to depression & exhaustion. Loneliness and isolation lead to feelings of disconnect, with less time and energy for family, relationships, and time for ourselves.
Therapy with me is a productive space not a passive experience
As a therapist, I have successfully worked with many clients to enable them to reduce depression, anxiety and stress. Clients have come to me not being able to sleep due to anxious, racing thoughts & have lost all motivation in life due to low mood. When they leave, they often remark on how they have gained inner calmness, feel more energy, and are connected to themselves.
What to expect at our first session together
In our first session, there's no pressure to have everything figured out or to know where to begin; therapy is a process. My first aim is to provide a relaxed space where you can start to unpack whatever's on your mind, at your own pace. I aim to get to know you and for us to begin building a relationship. This foundation allows for real, meaningful work to happen over time.
Training, qualifications & experience
As James famously said, "Sit down with me, in love, in fear, in hate, in tears"
I have worked with many people facing depression, anxiety and stress & I also bring personal understanding of what it's like to struggle with these issues. I appreciate that everyone's experience of mental health issues can be different. I look after myself outside of our sessions, so I can hold a space for you in therapy to bring whatever you need to unpack.
I have years of experience; my skills are not just based on textbooks
I have 25 years of experience working with individuals and groups to improve mental well-being and have had successful careers in the Private, Statutory, and Charitable Sectors.
You will be pleased to know I'm fully qualified
I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I don't believe one shoe fits all; we are all as unique as our own thumbprints.
My work is adapted to your specific needs, whatever they may be, in an empathic, confidential, secure space where we can stimulate "change through talking and action."
I have an enhanced DBS disclosure and have full insurance.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
