About me
I’m Ceri, an integrative counsellor working from a person-centred approach and informed by Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT).
I work with adults who are experiencing emotional distress, self-criticism, low self-esteem or feeling overwhelmed by difficult thoughts and feelings.
I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can explore what’s been troubling you, away from the pressures of everyday life. Counselling gives you time to reflect, understand yourself more deeply and consider new ways of understanding and responding to what you’re experiencing.
A particular focus of my work is supporting people who are very hard on themselves. Together, we can explore patterns of self-criticism and shame and gently develop self-compassion, helping you respond to yourself with greater understanding, balance and care.
Counselling offers a supportive space to reflect, make sense of what you’re experiencing and gradually build your own clarity, inner resources and capacity for change, in a way that feels right for you.
I also offer coaching support for clients looking to work on specific goals or wellbeing skills, such as Compassionate Mind Training. This is distinct from counselling and can complement it.
My background in HR helps me support people who are struggling with the demands and pressures of modern working life.
You can book a brief 10-15 minute introductory conversation to see if I’m the right fit for you before committing to counselling.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fully qualified counsellor and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), working in line with their Ethical Framework. I work with adults from a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences.
My integrative approach means I tailor counselling to you as an individual, drawing on person-centred values and compassion-focused ways of understanding distress.
Alongside my counselling training, I have professional experience in HR, which informs my work with people facing work-related difficulties. This includes stress, burnout, workplace conflict, feeling undervalued, anxiety around performance or navigating organisational change.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
