About me
Hello, as you are reading this, it’s likely you have reached a decision to look for support in addressing a life issue.
Perhaps you are struggling to cope with the curve balls life keeps throwing at you? Or do you need help in working out why certain thoughts and feelings are there? Perhaps driving your anxiety or depression?
Maybe you are unhappy with your world and are struggling with difficult feelings or maybe confused about certain issues in your life? Or perhaps you wish to access a deeper connection to yourself to help make sense of it all.
You may have experienced past trauma (big T or little T) and are finding it hard to manage or are suffering from conflicting feelings.
I can help you understand your experiences and emotions. We can work together to help you find a mentally healthier way to live. It is not always easy to talk to family and friends for many different reasons. As a trained counsellor I listen fully to you, with no judgment so we can build a trusting and genuine therapeutic relationship, that will help you be heard and understood.
My name is Caz Simms. I am a qualified Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor. This means I work with, combine and draw on different theories in my practice. We are all unique and I shape my therapy in line with your needs.
I work, one to one with adult clients, 18 and over and offer online and face to face sessions in my therapy room(s) just off Stokes Croft and on Whiteladies Road Bristol. I offer a safe, confidential environment where we will have the time and space to explore your individual life experiences.
Counselling isn’t about giving you the answers. It’s about helping you find your way through the forest so you can see the wood for the trees.
As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. (BACP) I follow their ethical framework, also attending regular supervision which supports my work.
Training, qualifications & experience
Qualifications
- Therapeutic Counselling Foundation Degree (Gloucester University, Gloucester)
- Certificate in Counselling, Aim Level Three (City of Bristol College, Bristol)
- DBS checked.
My current work is centred around private practice, a part-time role working in the homeless sector, and volunteer counselling work with a drug and alcohol charity in Bristol. The extra knowledge I have gained in these other roles allows me to bring broader and deeper experiences to my counselling.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
