About me
If your child is struggling with anxiety, difficulties with behaviour, struggles with school it can be difficult to know where to turn. As an HCPC Registered Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years' experience in NHS children's services, I help families understand what's happening and decide what support is likely to make the biggest difference.
Alongside my private practice, I hold senior clinical lead roles within the NHS, leading a neurodevelopmental assessment service and an enhanced therapy support team for young people experiencing high levels of distress. Wherever your family is at, the chances are I've supported families through something similar before.
I work with both neurodivergent and neurotypical children, and I understand that every child is different and I take the time to really understand your child and your family before deciding on the best way forward together.
I know that reaching out for support can feel like a big step, especially when you've perhaps already tried a few things, or you're not quite sure what your child needs. My aim is to make this process feel collaborative, warm, and manageable for your family.
How I Work
I use a systemic approach, which means I don't just focus on the child in isolation - I think about the relationships and environment around them too, because that's often where real change happens. As a Clinical Psychologist I am trained to draw on lots of different types of therapy approaches, and I will work with you and your child to consider what approach will work best for your family.
Who I Work With
I work with children and young people aged to 0- 20, including those who are neurodivergent (such as autistic children or those with ADHD) and those who aren't. I also work directly with parents to think about parenting approaches. This approach works particularly well with younger children.
Families often come to me when:
- Their child is experiencing anxiety, low mood, or big emotional reactions that are hard to understand or manage
- A child or young person is showing high levels of distress and the family feels out of their depth or unsure where to turn
- Behaviour at home has become distressing or difficult, and previous approaches haven't worked
- Their child has recently received a diagnosis (or is going through the assessment process) and the family wants support to understand what that means for them
- They want space to think things through with someone experienced, before deciding what kind of support is right
What I Offer
- Individual therapy for children and young people
- Parent and carer consultation - for parents who want support, strategies, and a space to think, with or without their child directly involved
I am also able to offer neurodevelopmental assessment for ADHD for children and adults.
I offer in person and online sessions. Typically, it works better to see younger children in person. Teenagers and young adults often prefer to be seen online and Parenting support can be flexible -I have some evening availability.
Getting Started
If you're not sure whether I'm the right fit, that's completely okay - I offer a short initial call so we can talk through what's going on and what kind of support might help, before committing to anything further.
