Dr Catherine Nixon - UKCP Registered Psychotherapist
I am an integrative psychotherapist and psychotherapeutic counsellor based in the north-east of England, working with clients who present with a wide range of issues or problems (listed below). I have experience working with clients in primary care, bereavement support services and in private practice.
I offer a safe and confidential space for you to explore the issues you are struggling with. I work with my clients collaboratively and sensitively on issues that have been triggered by recent events or issues that are long-standing.
Like many practitioners working psychotherapeutically, I believe that understanding the root of a problem - and how our past can shape our current experiences - is most beneficial in the long-term.
I work from the Wellbeing Centre in Saltburn-by-the-Sea. If you would like to make an appointment or an initial enquiry, please get in touch using the contact information above.

Psychotherapy & Counselling
The nature of the difficulties that you are experiencing, will determine to some extent the length and depth of therapy that is required. I work with my clients to agree an initial number of sessions, and this is reviewed as the therapy progresses. Issues that clients have experienced for many years which have their roots in childhood experiences usually require long-term psychotherapeutic work. Some difficulties, triggered by recent life events can often be resolved through short-term counselling.
The initial assessment session is also important in establishing our therapeutic alliance and at this point you can decide whether you would like to work with me. The therapeutic relationship is a key part of the therapeutic process - and it's important that you find a therapist that is right for you.
