About me
Thank you for visiting my profile. It's so lovely to meet you.
Welcome to Silence to Strength Counselling. My name is Carrie-Alara Rivers.
I’m a qualified counsellor and therapist with 23 years’ experience working within the NHS, alongside experience supporting young people within a high school academy setting. I work with teens and women, with a special interest in supporting women through life transitions and emotional challenges including trauma, attachment issues, grief and loss, divorce, burnout, anxiety, and low self-worth, empty nesting etc . I understand the complexities that can come with both adolescence and adulthood.
I work integratively, drawing on different approaches depending on what feels right for you, and I’m person-centred at heart. That means our work together is collaborative, supportive, and paced to suit your needs. My aim is to provide a safe, non-judgemental space where you can explore what’s going on in your life, understand yourself better, and develop strategies that actually work for you.
Clients often describe me as warm, approachable, and maybe a little bit quirky — I like to bring a touch of humour and authenticity where it feels helpful, while always keeping our sessions professional and safe.
I also have experience working with young people, thanks to my background in school-based mental health services, so I can work with teenagers where needed, though my main focus is supporting adults.
I offer a welcoming, non-judgemental space for all identities and backgrounds. While I primarily work with women, I am LGBTQ+ affirmative and committed to inclusive, respectful practice.
If you’re looking for a counsellor who listens, adapts to your needs, and creates a genuinely supportive space, I’d love to hear from you.
I work Face to Face from Wakefield and Bradford areas, as well as online.

Member of the BACP. British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
