About me
Hello, I’m Carolyn.
You may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, stuck in unhelpful patterns, or struggling to navigate life in the way others seem to. Perhaps your mind feels constantly busy, you overthink everything, feel deeply sensitive, find it hard to switch off, or carry a quiet sense of never quite feeling good enough, no matter how hard you try. It may feel as though life has always felt harder for you than it appears to for everyone else.
If this sounds familiar, you are not alone.
Reaching out for support can feel incredibly difficult, especially when you’ve spent so long trying to cope on your own, masking how you truly feel, or believing you “should” be managing better. Taking this first step takes courage.
I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can slow down, feel heard and begin to understand yourself more deeply. Together, we can explore your thoughts, feelings, emotions and experiences at a pace that feels safe and comfortable for you.
I work with adults experiencing anxiety, stress, overwhelm, low mood, low self-esteem, emotional exhaustion, relationship difficulties and feeling “stuck” in repeating cycles that are hard to break.
I also have a growing interest in supporting neurodivergent individuals, including those who may be questioning whether they have ADHD, waiting for assessment, adjusting to a recent diagnosis, or trying to make sense of years of feeling different, misunderstood or “too much.”
Exploring neurodivergence can bring up many different emotions — confusion, grief, relief, shame, validation, anger, sadness or even fear around how others may perceive you. The stigma around neurodivergence is very real, and many people have spent years criticising themselves for struggles they never fully understood.
I believe you are not broken. Your mind may simply be wired differently.
Understanding yourself through a more compassionate lens can begin to change the relationship you have with yourself. It can help make sense of lifelong patterns, reduce shame and open the door to greater self-acceptance, self-awareness and emotional healing.
My approach is primarily person-centred and trauma-informed. I believe healing happens through feeling genuinely accepted, understood and safe within the therapeutic relationship. I recognise that our emotional wellbeing is often deeply connected to our past experiences, nervous system, relationships, identity and the pressures of everyday life.
Counselling can offer a space to:
Better understand yourself and your patterns
Reduce anxiety and overwhelm
Process difficult emotions and experiences
Build self-worth and confidence
Explore boundaries and relationships
Reconnect with who you are beneath stress, survival mode and self-criticism
I know personally how life-changing counselling can be and how powerful it is to finally feel seen, understood and accepted without judgement.
I offer an initial telephone call with no obligation, giving us an opportunity to discuss what brings you to counselling and whether working together feels right for you.
I hope to hear from you soon.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I work with adults both online and face-to-face, providing a warm, supportive and non-judgemental space where clients can explore their experiences safely and at their own pace. Alongside my private practice, I have volunteered long term supporting survivors of sexual violence through a local charity.
