About me
Hello. You are most welcome.
You may be exploring counselling because you have been impacted by a significant event or trauma, and life suddenly feels unpredictable and hard to manage. Perhaps a relationship is in crisis, has ended, or someone you love has died. These experiences can evoke feelings of overwhelm, anxiety, depression and disconnection from ourselves and others.
As humans, we are wired for connection, and when our close relationships are disrupted, through conflict, separation, bereavement, or change, it can feel deeply destabilising.
I work with both individuals (16+) and couples, and with a warm, empathic approach, sessions will help you make sense of your experience, find compassion for yourself, and explore a way forward.
My Philosophy and Approach:
My core training is in Transactional Analysis, which focuses on understanding how our unconscious life scripts affect our relationships with ourselves and others. I also draw on other therapeutic approaches, tailoring our work to your individual needs.
I place great importance on the therapeutic relationship, working relationally so that patterns from your life outside therapy can be explored safely within our sessions.
My work is influenced by existential ideas, supporting you to explore questions of meaning, purpose, and identity, especially after loss or major change. I also offer creative approaches, if this resonates.
Initial Consultation:
I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation for individuals and a 20-minute consultation for couples. This gives you the opportunity to share a little about what has brought you to therapy, ask questions, and see whether I feel like the right fit for you.
There is no obligation to continue — finding the right counsellor is an important part of the process.
First and ongoing sessions:
Our first session is a space to explore what has brought you to therapy at this point and what you hope to gain. We can think together about how we might work and what future sessions may look like.
Ongoing sessions explore your personal story and the ways past experiences may be influencing your life and relationships today. Some clients also find psycho-education helpful, in offering practical tools for greater understanding.
I offer both short-term and long-term therapy.
Relationship therapy: I recommend 6 - 8 weeks on a weekly basis and then potentially bi-monthly.

Further information
Before training as a counsellor, I worked for over 25 years in education, both as a Director of Music and, more recently, Assistant Director of Wellbeing. Both as a teacher and manager of large teams, these experiences have given me a breadth of understanding in working with both adolescents and adults, and a particular appreciation of the challenges people face during key transitions in their lives.
