About me

I am person centred counsellor offering face to face, online or telephone sessions. I offer a genuine, safe and deeply empathetic space for you to bring whatever you would like to explore. I have a non-directive approach as I believe and trust that you know yourself the best and it is important for you to lead the process at the right pace for you. I aim to always offer unconditional acceptance and hope you will feel deeply valued and respected. I believe in an innate capacity for growth and self-healing and aim to help you explore and build on your own understanding and connection to yourself, hopefully enabling you to feel more resilient and balanced as you navigate life's challenges.

I have a deep belief in working in a highly sensitive and holistic way, paying close attention to the interconnection between the mind, body, emotions and spirit. Although I do not mix the modalities my experience and knowledge as a bodywork therapist is constantly inspiring me to work with clients with high levels of attunement. My continuing commitment to exploring my own processes and experiences constantly renews my inspiration to live and communicate with others authentically.

I have worked with adult (18+) clients experiencing anxiety, depression, low mood, neuro-diversity, trauma, abuse (sexual, domestic, verbal and emotional), childhood trauma, attachment issues, grief and loss, serious illness, learning disabilities, PTSD and C-PTSD. I am also aware that people come to counselling for a multitude of reasons that are often complex and intertwined. There is absolutely no expectation that a particular presenting issue is needed in order to access counselling.

I offer face to face sessions from the Bodywork center in Hexham in confidential, comfortable and welcoming therapy rooms which last for 50 minutes. I can tailor your sessions to your needs and we will discuss this together at the beginning of your sessions, for example you might want weekly sessions at a fixed time, fortnightly sessions, short, medium or long term therapy. I will offer informal reviews as we proceed to ensure that you are happy with the arrangement you decide on.

I can also offer online sessions via zoom which can be a really valuable way of accessing counselling without having to travel and from the safely of your own environment. It is important that wherever you choose to be for online sessions is confidential, without risk of interruption and has good internet access.

Accessibility: There is one room available in the Bodywork center that has disabled access via a stair lift.

I offer an initial online or telephone meeting for up to half an hour for free in order to meet and briefly touch in to what brings you to counselling. This is an opportunity for you to get a sense of me as a counsellor, to address any questions you have and for us both to see if it feels right to go ahead with sessions together.

If you decide to go ahead we will book in a first session which will involve some time spent discussing a 'contract' or collaborative agreements for how we would like to work together.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
