About me

Making the decision to see a counsellor can feel like a big step especially if this is the first time you’ve done so. As a Relate qualified couples counsellor I offer a safe, confidential and compassionate space in which to build a trusting, supportive relationship. From here we can explore any issues and concerns you are facing and move forward in a positive way that is right for you.

I have worked with a diverse range of couples and individuals wanting to explore relationships and personal issues.

You may be considering counselling for a number of reasons. As well as couples, I offer individual counselling to support with issues such as relationship problems, family issues, communication difficulties, relationship breakdown, separating and work-related stress/anxiety.

I have over 10 years’ experience in the field, including Samaritans supporting people at times of crisis and working for Relate. I have worked with couples and individuals face to face, over zoom, by text and telephone. I am a Registered member of the BACP and NCPS.

NCPS
National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS)

The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

During an initial free phone call, we will discuss what has brought you to counselling and what changes you are hoping to make. Also, whether therapy is suitable and importantly whether I am the right counsellor for you. There is no obligation, you can decide in your own time.

Ongoing sessions are 50 minutes and can be held either weekly or fortnightly over zoom or by telephone.

If you would like to focus on one specific issue or have financial constraint’s I am also trained and can offer Single Session Therapy sessions.

Single Session Therapy sessions are for 60 minutes over zoom or by telephone.

30-minute calls can be either by telephone or zoom.

There is no fixed number of sessions. Some clients need only a few counselling sessions to achieve their goals, other issues may take several months to resolve. We can discuss and agree a plan together. When clients are coming to the end of their counselling, I also offer monthly ‘safety net’ sessions if that feels appropriate.
