About me

Life is challenging and full of struggles. You may be feeling stuck or lost, out of control, low in mood, swamped by feelings of worry, guilt, shame or anger. Maybe you are finding it difficult to feel grounded in your life and connected to those around you. You could be experiencing a sense of emptiness that you can’t explain.

You are not broken; you are simply responding to the things that have happened to you. You are important and you deserve to feel peace and presence in your life.

My name is Caroline and I am a fully qualified BACP registered counsellor offering short and long term therapy online and in person in South Manchester.

Training, qualifications & experience

With a background in education, I have experience working in mental health counselling settings and support services for young people (18-25), adults (25+), and survivors of childhood, domestic or intimate partner abuse.

I work in a humanistic, person-centred way, believing that you and your journey are unique. In our sessions, you set the agenda and pace. We will work within your comfort tolerance and gradually extend these boundaries as you feel ready. My style is gentle, and I will meet you with compassion. I do not offer solutions and fix problems like a family member or friend might. Instead, I will hear you with complete acceptance, walking alongside you, providing validation for your feelings however confusing or distressing they may be. Together, I hope we can build a trusting therapeutic relationship to enable you to begin to process your pain, helping you move towards a sense of lightness and lasting change.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

I appreciate how daunting it can feel when initially seeking a therapist. I have experienced this myself and I know it takes courage to reach out. You may be fearful of making the wrong choice or feel overwhelmed by all that’s on offer. With this in mind, I offer a free 20 minute consultation online where we can have an informal chat. If I am not the right person for you, I will do my best to direct you going forward.

I am also open to supporting student counsellors on their journey in offering a reduced rate for your personal therapy.

I can offer a reduced concessionary rate for those on a low income.
