About me

Are you facing life after bereavement, relationship breakdown or loss of a defining role or career? Having faced this myself, I know how challenging it is to face change alone, but I also know that it is possible to rebuild your life after catastrophe.

Where there is loss, there is grieving – a whole kaleidoscope of emotions that come in waves and sometimes engulf in us in their intensity. Every loss is different and unique to every individual. Everything you feel is a valid experience.

At some point there comes a realisation, however unwelcome, that life goes on, is going on. Taking you along with it.

My clients are asking themselves 'what now?' and describe themselves as 'going through the motions'.

They don't recognise who they are any more. No-one understands how they feel, and it's too exhausting to explain. It's easier to close down emotionally and withdraw physically, than maintain the act of being 'alright' around others.

The future seems uncertain and fearful. Decision making is hard, because everyone's opinion seems important (including the deceased, if bereaved) and the chance of making things even worse is always present.

Events and conversations, sometimes from years ago, are relived - regrets and guilt take on epic proportions, especially in the wee, small hours. Confidence is battered and self-esteem declines. A vicious cycle leading to despair and depression.

Does this sound familiar? It was to me when my partner died suddenly and unexpectedly.

There is hope.

I can’t give you your old life back exactly as it was. No-one can.

But you can rebuild from the ruins. Not a ‘new’ life, but one that honours your past, while accepting the truth of what is now.

Using a combination of counselling and coaching methods, I can help you to regain your self-confidence, redefine your life, find your joy and live again with purpose and meaning.

I rebuilt my life – so can you.

Drop me a message on 07732183586. I’ll get back to you within 24 hours to arrange your first free session.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS)

The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society

This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations.

In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

I work on-line, using zoom, and by telephone. My clients enjoy the safety and comfort of being in their own environment, without the stress of travelling.
I integrate counselling and coaching in a humanistic way, which means that our work together is led by you.

At each session, you are invited to talk about what is uppermost for you, and encouraged to explore how you might approach this challenge differently.

When appropriate, I may offer tools which might benefit you, but there is no expectation that you will employ them. I do not set 'homework' or assessments.

Of course, everything discussed within the session is confidential.

I also offer 'between session' text support to my clients. Sometimes is instigated by my client. At other times, with permission, I may send information or insights which I think might be of benefit.

I offer a range of session durations (60 to 120 minutes) at a frequency which suits you.
