About me

I am a qualified and registered counsellor supporting adults facing adversities that feel too difficult to face alone.

I specialise in bereavement and loss, whether that is the death of someone close or the loss of a career, relationship or perhaps a complete loss of identity.

I work in a gentle person-centred way offering a safe non-judgmental space for my clients to feel heard and more importantly understood. I allow my clients to lead the sessions believing that they are the expert on themselves and their relationships. I facilitate the process both through talk therapy and experiential creative work.

Training, qualifications & experience

About my training and experience - I hold a degree in Person Centred Counselling from the University of Brighton and a certificate in Couples Counselling from the Connexus Institute (Hove). I have also completed additional training in complex grief counselling.

As well as working privately as a counsellor, I spent 2 years volunteering at St Wilfrid's Hospice in Eastbourne as a Bereavement Counsellor. I have travelled extensively which has given me a greater awareness and understanding of cultural differences

I work with clients from all walks of life and have many hours of experience working with people going through the often unbearable pain of loss and grief which in turn has a habit of creating feelings of anxiety, depression, low self esteem, family problems, financial issues and a sense of being lost and alone in the world. I help by providing a calm space for the processing of the loss and navigating a way through the pain

I also work with many people who are trying to understand their current behaviours which often involves the processing of unresolved traumas from childhood. This is often a powerful experience in the counselling room

I have successfully worked with couples who have lost the ability to communicate with each other, resulting in a loss of understanding and connection. This could be due to an affair, pressures of family life, career challenges or the feeling of growing in different directions. Being able to talk to each other in a safe non judgmental space often has enormous positive effects on the relationship

I am happy to work in person, online or over the telephone.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
