About me
I believe that we all struggle with common themes of meaninglessness, isolation, life and death, and existence itself. Sometimes we need support to explore and understand these feelings and to feel heard. Counselling offers a safe, non-judgemental space where you can freely explore whatever brings you to therapy.
Generally, a person will come to therapy when they start to become aware of being stuck in the same old pattern but no idea of why and how to change things. It takes courage to ask for help, and if you are reading this, chances are you are facing significant challenges in your life like major life changes, bereavement, divorce, redundancy, relationship problems, parenting, psychosexual issues, trauma, or everyday challenges.
I am a humanistic therapist who offers an integrative approach to therapy, which means that we can tailor the sessions to meet your needs. This includes -
- Gestalt Therapy - working in the here and now
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
- Creative Mindfulness-Based CBT
- Art Therapy (using a variety of materials) & Sand Tray
- Brief Solution Focus Therapy
- Transactional Analysis
- I also use somatic approaches and can offer yoga therapy
I offer face-to-face and online therapy, following ethical guidelines laid down in the BACP Ethical Framework. My consultation room is a comfortable private, light, and airy room in my home, or I can hire private therapy if that is preferred.
I am originally from Northern Ireland but have lived all my adult life in Devon. I have worked in Mental Health for 25+ years since qualifying as an Art Therapist. As well as a counsellor, I am also a Yoga teacher and have recently graduated as a Yoga Therapist.
I am passionate about supporting others to find meaning in their lives and particularly interested in working with women approaching and/or experiencing menopause and all the life changes this period brings.

Member organisations
![BACP](/includes/counselling-directory.org.uk/images/logos/logo_2.png)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
