About me

We all experience challenging times in our life when we struggle to cope. Many individuals I meet seek support because their usual strategies for coping are no longer effective. This can result in you experiencing anxiety or feelings of isolation, sadness, despair or anger. These feelings could be linked to recent life events or childhood experiences and may be impacting detrimentally on your relationships and the way you communicate with others.

I offer an opportunity for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviour in a non-judgemental, accepting and safe space. In the sessions I encourage you to talk through your concerns. Through listening, showing empathy and understanding, as well as inviting you to see things differently, I aim to support your potential and provide a confidential place for you to explore new solutions.

The benefits of therapy include:

  • Relief from difficult symptoms
  • Improved self-esteem
  • Self-insight
  • Deeper understanding of the way you interact with others
  • Improved relationships

My experience may be of particular benefit if you are :

  • Worrying about issues at work such as of overwork or excessive responsibility
  • Suffering from past experiences that have been traumatic
  • Experiencing loss or bereavement
  • Feeling anxious or depressed
  • Wanting to improve your self-esteem and confidence
  • Experiencing relationship or marital difficulties or breakdown
  • Experiencing separation or loss

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist registered with the Health Professions Council and British Psychological Society. I therefore adhere to the Professional Codes of Practice and Guidelines set down by these organisations.

I have extensive experience working within the National Health Service, and the Private Sector. I am qualified in a number of different therapeutic approaches - including cognitive behavioural therapy -which means I can tailor treatment to your needs. I also draw on current research where it has proved to be effective for the type of concerns you are experiencing.

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

Common Questions?

What happens next?

If you would like to arrange an initial meeting, or simply ask questions you can call or email me as I am happy to answer any queries you may have.

The initial meeting lasts 50 minutes. This gives us an opportunity to discuss possible ways of working together. I believe it is essential that you work with the right person for you. If you then agree to work with me, we can go on to decide on the number of sessions you would need. We can also agree on more practical matters like a convenient time, how much it would cost, and if other sources of support maybe appropriate for you.

How long does it take?

It is not necessary to commit to therapy in the long term as often a few sessions is sufficient for specific issues. It is common, but not essential to agree 6 sessions with a review. However it maybe that longer established patterns may take longer to address.

Where does therapy take place?

This can take place online
