About me

'Resting deeply, I return my heart to the one who listens to cries of the world'   - Kwan Yin

I am a UKCP-registered psychotherapist, psycho-spiritual and body-orientated psychotherapist accredited by UKAHPP.

I offer a  free 20min initial appointment to explore whether I am the right therapist for you, and how I might best support your particular needs. It is important to choose a therapist with whom you feel comfortable. This can be online or actually meeting.

Deciding to see a therapist can be helpful on occasions when life seems overwhelming, confusing or when you simply want to understand yourself better. I offer empathy, compassion, clarity, support and a place to talk things through at your own pace. I am here to listen and support you through difficulties with your issues.

“What are you going to do with this one wild and precious life?” - Mary Oliver.

There are times when the people or support networks we turn to are not available or not appropriate for a current difficulty. Some issues may also have their roots in earlier experiences, yet continue to affect us in the present.

Therapy offers an opportunity to develop greater self-awareness, gain insight, and explore ways of creating meaningful and lasting change. It is a collaborative process focussed on understanding your experience and supporting you to find your own way forward.

Psychotherapy.

"We are never so defenceless against suffering as when we love"                               - Sigmund  Freud.

Psychotherapy is a confidential, collaborative process that can help to address depression, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, PTSD, addictions and other life challenges.

Psychospiritual  Psychotherapy.

"The mind is like a parachute, it has to open to work" Frank Zappa

Core Process Psychotherapy is a mindfulness based approach that blends Western psychology and Buddhist principles. It focusses on present-moment awareness, bodily experience, and inherent health rather than pathology. By gently exploring past conditioning this approach supports deep and lasting emotional changes.

Body psychotherapy.

"Let your soft animal body love what it loves"  - Mary Oliver

Body psychotherapy ( biodynamic psychology ) recognises the connection between mind and body. It works with understanding that emotional experience and trauma can be held in the body. Through breath work, movement and increased bodily awareness this approach can help release chronic tension, process trauma and support emotional regulation. It views the body and mind as a functional unity.

My approach.

My approach is a relational. We talk together, and where appropriate, we may also draw upon body-orientated  work, creative methods, or reflective and mindful practices. These approaches are always guided by what feels appropriate and helpful to you.

  • Therapy can include but not be limited to issues such as:

Experience and professional standing.

I first came to psychotherapy as a client in 1977 when i was working as an Architect, That experience began a lifelong inner journey that continues to this day. I still participate regularly on meditative retreats and attend a monthly psychotherapy group as a client, as I believe ongoing self-reflection is essential to good therapeutic practice.

I became a registered psychotherapist with the United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapy (UKCP) in 1993 and am accredited by the UK Association of Humanistic Psychology Practitioners (UKAHPP). I work with regular supervision, which is a core requirement of ethical practice..

My clinical training includes the Karuna Institute (Core Process Psychotherapy-a Buddhist informed contemplative approach) and the Chiron Centre in London (Biodynamic Psychotherapy-a body-orientated psychotherapy approach). I was also a senior counsellor trainer teaching Gestalt and Humanistic Psychology on a BACP-accredited course before establishing my own private training programme: 'Gestalt, the Body and the Spiritual'.

Alongside my psychotherapy work I  trained as a yoga and meditation teacher in the UK and India in 1980 to 1983 and taught weekly classes for 30 years.
