About me

Hi, I'm Brett.

I am here to listen without judgement and offer support with life's challenges. My aim is to provide a safe, supportive space to help you with whatever is distressing you or holding you back.  My priority is to build a relationship of trust where we can work together to tackle whatever you may be struggling with.

I offer warmth and acceptance and believe that a collaborative, trusting relationship is key to therapeutic change.

It is really important to find a therapist who is the right fit for you. Please get in touch for a free, no obligation, initial consultation so that we can chat and see if we can work together.  I offer weekly sessions in a discreet, easy to access location. I am also happy to conduct sessions via video call if this is easier for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an integrative psychotherapist which means that I am trained in a range of therapies and can offer bespoke therapy tailored to your needs and preferences.

My training is in Humanistic, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapies. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).

I offer support with a range of issues in my private practice. I have specialist training in working with bereavement and spent 2 years working with bereaved clients with Cruse. I also spent a year providing psychotherapy within a substance misuse recovery project.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I offer both face to face and online therapy. We can talk about your needs in terms of frequency of sessions and number of sessions when we meet. You will not be asked to commit to a given number of sessions but as a rough guide I suggest trying 6 sessions and then reviewing. Some people may have less than 6 sessions, some may have 6-12, others continue with long term therapy or space sessions out and commit to monthly sessions as a startegy to maintain mental wellbeing. I am interested in your needs and will will try my best to accomodate them.
