About me

Hello, I am Bethanie Taylor (MBACP), welcome to my profile. I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. I work in-person in Leeds city centre, and online throughout the UK.

As I am an integrative counsellor; this means that you will lead the sessions while I use my knowledge and various techniques from multiple different therapeutic approaches. This is tailored to you, to allow for meaningful change in your life as everyone is unique. In our sessions I will predominately use Person-Centred therapy, alongside the psychodynamic approach and the systemic approach if/when they are useful.

Our sessions will be held in a safe, judgement-free, and confidential space where we will work together to reach your goals. Whether it’s being heard, to gain self-insight, or clarity on a situation.

You may be feeling overwhelmed, unsure how to deal with life changes, anxiety, low self-esteem, grief, relationship difficulties, or other stresses. Choosing to start counselling can be the first step towards creating meaningful change in your life and getting a deeper understanding of yourself.

Everyone's journey is unique and I would be honoured to work with you on yours.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

I offer open-ended counselling and psychotherapy sessions. The sessions will be held weekly, or biweekly, and last for 50 minutes.

When you reach out I will send you an Assessment Form and Counselling Contract. These forms will give me a better understanding of your current situation, goals, and how we can work together effectively. Any information you provide will be kept confidential. The counselling contract will give you a clearer idea of what to expect from our sessions.

I also offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation to go through any further questions or concerns before starting our sessions.

If you decide to proceed, we will agree on a regular time slot which best suits you. Although, if you even need to amend the day/time at any point, this can be arranged.

Online sessions will be held remotely usually via Google Meet. Also, you must be alone in a quiet, comfortable, and safe room in the UK. The device you use for sessions must have access to both a microphone and a camera.

Face-to-Face Sessions:

The therapy room has a small waiting area outside the door. The therapy room gets lots of natural light during the day and diffused light in the evening. There is heating which can be adjusted for your preference.

There are toilets across from the therapy room.

I am located at AC Therapy Rooms, 51d New Briggate, Leeds, LS2 8JD.
