About me
I am a qualified, integrative counsellor which means I will work creatively with you and your individual needs to support the change you would like moving forward with your life. Together we can explore these difficult feelings in a safe, therapeutic, and non-judgmental space.
Being a counsellor to me is being the person who really hears what you have to say. Being able to give a space to say out loud what is troubling you without being told what to do but working together to process what is happening and then finding a way forward together.
We all have our own unique experiences that makes us who we are. This means we need an approach that adapts to whatever situation presents itself.
I have different spaces to work from depending on where you feel most comfortable. I have a space in a therapy practice in Banbury town centre, an outdoor space to be in nature in Bloxham and I work online. As I work as an integrative counsellor each of these environments add there own opportunity to be yourself. If you like to move around and sense nature, outside is nourishing whilst having a quiet, calm space indoors can be soothing and working online fits schedules and childcare.
Training, qualifications & experience
- I am qualified by the CPCAB (Counselling & Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body)as a level 4 therapeutic counsellor.
- I am a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).
- I have been working as a counsellor for 7 years.
I have worked for 20+ years with young people and adults with autism, ADHD and other Neurodivergences. Helping to understand how to manage everyday situations and making a toolkit of skills to help you to manage everyday life in your own way. No one way is right or wrong, just different so unpicking what is impacting you can make life feel less daunting. Having different spaces to experience therapy is important as one size doesn't fit all.
I have experience supporting young people in a secondary school setting to cope with various mental health issues, whilst being aware of family needs. Mental health can be hard to navigate whether it is your own or someone close to you and I can hear you without judgement.
I offer support to all, adults and young people (11+) with a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, stress, loss, grief, low self-esteem, self-harm, suicidal thoughts and anger - to name a few.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
