About me

Hello and thanks for taking an interest in my profile, and welcome to your first step in discovering the ‘real’ you. Often our experiences in life can impact on our ability to get in touch with our true authentic selves, and can cause us to feel anxious or imbalanced.

Maybe you are struggling on with life’s problems with no support or perhaps you’ve reached a point where you are feeling overwhelmed by life, disconnected from others and misunderstood?  Whatever the issue or situation I hope I can help.

I am a 'Person Centred Integrative' counsellor that lives and practices in North Devon.  As such I realise and recognise the human potential in everyone. I believe that the strength of the counselling relationship itself is what supports people to realise their full potential and facilitate change.

Our sessions will be a safe space for you to open up without conditions or judgement and I will support you on whatever journey you wish to follow. I hope through counselling I can support you to find your inner voice again and get in touch with the real you. Through our sessions I can introduce you to the tools and techniques you may need to empower you to manage certain situations, and the space to express yourself.

I have been working with counselling clients for the past 3 years, and prior to this worked as a homeless support worker for 25 years. This previous experience enabled me to gain a deep understanding of how people are affected by mental health and addiction issues, and enhances my work as a counsellor.

Menopause
I also have a particular interest in working with people who are going through the transitionary process of the menopause, and can support and guide you in this area.

Alcohol issues
I have specialist experience in working with clients who want support around their alcohol use, which has includes working with clients who want to get sober as well as those who wanted to drink more mindfully.  I am an Accredited Sober Coach and can use this knowledge within my counselling practice to support clients on a therapeutic level, if this is something they wish to manage.

Sessions
I offer short-term, long-term and single session therapy – and you can have as many or as few sessions as you wish.
Sessions are available:

Mondays: Rose and Crown clinic in South Molton

Tuesday – Fridays: Telephone or Zoom sessions as well as ‘Walk and Talk’ sessions around our farm near Chulmleigh (you are welcome to bring your own dog if you would like!) I find evening sessions also work well for my clients and Saturdays are also possible.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

I am also an accredited Sober coach, through the Sober club, specifically working with 'Grey area' drinkers.

'Grey area' drinking means that you haven't reached 'rock bottom' and are physically dependent on alcohol but that you are struggling to stop or reduce your drinking.  I can incorporate support around this area within my counselling practice.

I can also offer 'Walk and Talk' sessions for those that would prefer to have therapy out in nature - this type of therapy has so many health benefits!
