About me
Hi, I’m Bec. I’m a qualified counsellor offering therapy to couples and individuals. I work with couples who are feeling stuck, disconnected, or caught in repeated patterns of conflict or withdrawal. Often the couples I see still care about each other but are struggling with communication difficulties, emotional distance, or a rupture in trust, and feel unsure how to move forward. I offer a calm and supportive space where both partners can slow things down, feel heard and begin to understand what is happening beneath the surface of their interactions. Rather than taking sides, I support couples to explore relational patterns, emotional triggers, and how each person is affected, with the aim of increasing understanding, emotional safety and clarity about the relationship.
Alongside couples work, I also support individuals and I specialise in working with anxiety, depression and trauma. I have a special interest in supporting women who are navigating the emotional and relational impact of the menopause. This can include changes in mood, identity, confidence, or a sense of not feeling like yourself, as well as the effect these changes can have on relationships and wellbeing. I offer a safe and gentle space to make sense of these experiences and to reconnect with yourself with greater understanding and kindness.
My approach is collaborative and thoughtful, and I work at a pace that feels right for each person. My clients often come to therapy wanting to slow things down, explore recurring patterns, and find a way forward that feels more natural and meaningful.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Level 5 Diploma in Relationship Counselling from Relate and have experience of working with couples and individuals. I am currently undertaking professional training in Compassionate Inquiry, developed by trauma specialist Dr Gabor Mate, which informs my understanding of how early experiences, trauma, and relational patterns can influence emotional difficulties, particularly in current relationships.
Alongside my formal counselling training I bring many years of experience of working with people in supportive and therapeutic roles. This includes work as a volunteer Rape Crisis Counsellor, supporting survivors of sexual violence with care, sensitivity and respect for their pace and autonomy. I have also worked as a midwife, supporting women and their partners through significant physical, emotional and identity transitions, and as a Stop Smoking Advisor, where I developed a strong understanding of behaviour change and the emotional factors that underpin habitual patterns.
These experiences shape a thoughtful, compassionate and relational approach to my work.
