About me
I've a particular interest in working with people who live with anxiety and depression, as well as those dealing with difficult life situations such as relationship difficulties, the pain of grief and loss, or living with past trauma. I have also worked with those who are struggling with loneliness or are going through major life transitions.
All these experiences can leave us feeling isolated, sad and overwhelmed. Together, I would hope we could create a time in which to explore those feelings and develop a deeper awareness of what your needs are, as well as h exploring the close relationships in your life and how they've impacted you.
By reaching a better understanding of yourself, and developing more self-awareness, you'll then be in a better position to implement the changes that are right or necessary for your life.
I've almost three years experience working with people from all walks of life and with a range of unique issues. Alongside private practice, I also work part-time for a charity in Edinburgh.
As someone who has grown up in the expat community, I have a heart for those in ex-pat circles. I'm fluent in Spanish / English language and enjoy using both.
Apart from my Masters from St Andrews, I also hold a post-graduate degree in Education. As an integrative counsellor, I tailor my approach to each individual. Some clients need a supportive space to process difficult emotions, while others want to understand recurring patterns in their relationships or develop practical ways of coping with challenges. My aim is to develop warm, collaborative sessions where you feel heard and understood, and where you can feel comfortable enough to release any difficult emotions you may be carrying within you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Level 5 Chrysalis Professional Diploma (Prof Dip Pay C) in Psychotherapeutic Counselling Practice, accredited by the National Psychotherapy and Counselling Society.
I also have an MA in English Literature from St Andrews University
PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) for Secondary School teaching from Glasgow University.
I have early experience of living abroad and adapting to different cultures and views. I am fluent in both Spanish and English. I have extensive life experience too, which I think is important in counselling, and am used to working with very diverse groups of people, of different nationalities and backgrounds.
