About us
Basecamp Counselling & Training Centre – Affordable Therapy in Chepstow and Online
Basecamp is a community-led counselling and wellbeing cooperative based in Chepstow, offering affordable counselling, professional counsellor training and inclusive wellbeing support for people across Monmouthshire and throughout the UK online.
We believe emotional support should be accessible to everyone, regardless of income or background. Our counselling service provides a safe, welcoming and non-judgemental space where adults and young people can explore challenges including anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, relationships, identity, grief, low self-esteem and life transitions.
We offer both face-to-face counselling in Chepstow (NP16) and online sessions across the UK, with affordable sliding-scale fees designed to reduce barriers to accessing therapy.
Alongside counselling, Basecamp has developed into a growing training centre supporting the next generation of counsellors. We provide placement opportunities, therapeutic skills development and inclusive training pathways that welcome people from varied backgrounds and lived experiences into the profession. Our approach values compassion, accessibility and real-world community understanding.
Basecamp also delivers wider wellbeing initiatives, including neurodiverse peer support, community wellbeing projects and practical support programmes designed to reduce isolation and improve emotional wellbeing.
As part of our holistic approach to mental health, we additionally offer nature-based and outdoor therapeutic activities that support connection, confidence, grounding and wellbeing.
Our therapists work across a range of integrative and evidence-based approaches, including person-centred therapy, CBT, psychodynamic, humanistic and trauma-informed practice. We also provide specialist trauma support, including the Rewind technique for PTSD and trauma symptoms.

school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
