About me

I support clients with anxiety, depression, overwhelm, stress, burnout, grief and loss, particularly where these are connected to trauma, bereavement, neurodivergence, cancer, relationships, work or domestic abuse.

My approach is integrative, combining talking therapy, reflection and other techniques to help you speak openly without fear of judgement, while being met with warmth and respect. I aim to help you better understand yourself, build self-esteem and confidence, reduce anxiety and develop healthier ways of coping with life’s pressures and challenges.

My approach is tailored to you because we are all individuals, and no two experiences are the same. Some people need space to slow things down, feel heard and make sense of what they are experiencing. Others may want a more active, solution-focused approach to something they are struggling with. We can adapt our work depending on what you need.

I won’t give you advice or tell you how to live your life, but I won’t simply sit back and listen either. There may be times when gently challenging a pattern of thinking or behaviour could be helpful, or when looking at something from a different perspective might open up a new way of understanding yourself or a situation.

We may explore where some of your difficulties have come from and how past experiences continue to affect you, or focus more on the present and what is happening for you now. Where helpful, I can offer psychological insight to help you understand why you may think, feel or respond in certain ways.

The relationship we build is a crucial part of therapy. I offer a compassionate, honest and respectful space where you can feel heard without fear of judgement.

Training, qualifications & experience

Alongside working in my private practice I am a volunteer counsellor for Macmillan Cancer Support, working a day a week at Wythenshawe Hospital. I have also worked therapeutically across domestic abuse and special educational needs charities.

I offer trauma-informed, integrative counselling. I offer a space where you don’t have to think about anyone else or feel the need to appear strong or positive. You can show up as you are and bring whatever is troubling you, without fear of judgement. You will be met with warmth, respect and compassion.

Before retraining as a counsellor and psychotherapist, I spent over 15 years in large corporate environments, working in business development and senior marketing roles. This experience gave me valuable insight into communication and relationships.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with

Alongside my private practice, I volunteer a day a week as a counsellor with Macmillan Cancer Support, working with people following a cancer diagnosis, during and after treatment, and those living with incurable and a life-limiting cancer. I also work with loved ones affected by cancer, including those experiencing bereavement. This is a space where people can let their guard down, say the things they don’t feel able to say elsewhere, voice the fears that feel too much or too dark, and speak what feels unimaginable.

To be trusted with someone’s emotional and psychological vulnerability at a time when their are facing one of the greatest threats to their life is something I hold with deep respect.

Additional information

I believe engaging in therapy is a courageous step, particularly at a time when you are already feeling vulnerable or overwhelmed.

I offer a 30-minute introductory session, either online, in person or over the phone. This gives you chance to share what has brought you to therapy, ask me questions and get a sense of whether working together feels right for you.

My hope is that you’ll leave that first session feeling supported, understood and clear about the next steps.

You can book your free introductory session directly through my profile, or get in touch via my website where you can find out more about my practice.

Further information

I offer both short-term and longer-term therapy, with the duration and frequency of sessions discussed collaboratively and reviewed as we go. Therapy can sometimes feel challenging, but you are always free to decide whether to continue. There is no expectation to commit to long-term therapy, and we can regularly review whether the sessions are meeting your needs.

Alongside my private practice, my work with Macmillan Cancer Support involves working within a framework of up to eight sessions, giving me experience of short-term therapeutic work.
