About me
I am an integrative counsellor which means that I can use a blend of techniques and approaches tailored to you and your needs. I am drawn to a narrative approach where you tell your story, beginning wherever you feel comfortable. I am able to hold your story as you come back to it from any angle over a course of counselling sessions.
From your story we can use gestalt approaches that focus on how you are being affected in the here and now, using problem solving techniques to enable you to become unstuck from unhelpful and hindering patterns.
I have a firm belief that we can become disconnected from our true selves due to the stresses of life and how we make concessions and compromises. It can feel as though we are constantly patching up a life that we don't fully believe in.
Telling our story, having the freedom and safety of being truly heard; being listened to and respected for who we are can be truly life changing.
I believe in and have the utmost respect for the therapeutic relationship; I have had the very real privilege of witnessing clients come back to themselves, making sense of their choices and forgiving themselves their mistakes through understanding and compassion.
It can be rough at times, as we unearth ourselves, but the lightness of not carrying it all alone anymore is so rewarding.
We are not formed alone and we do not grow alone; we are built for connection and we are healed by connection, to those around us, to the world around us and to ourselves.
I have been told that I have a presence, that I show kindness and that I am safe.
Please get in touch to see if we connect and I can support you.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I work in central Exeter on Fridays 08:30-18:00 (evenings available on request), with potential availability on Mondays & Thursdays, please ask.
We are next to the library only 3 minutes walk from Exeter Central Station, with plenty of nearby parking. Unfortunately this room is not wheelchair accessible.
My practice, MoorConnecting, is located in easily accessible rooms in Okehampton with nearby parking. I am available here on Mondays 09:00-17:00; Mon/Tues/Weds evenings & Saturday mornings.
We are perfectly located for outdoor therapy work on the open moor or woodland river walks if that is something you would like.
I will at all times offer you a safe, held and confidential space.
I believe connection makes us whole, connection with others and our environment helps us truly reconnect with ourselves.
My first session
I offer a free, no obligation, 15-20 minute online consultation for us both to decide if we are the right fit for each other.
I know the first step can be daunting and I understand how important the therapeutic relationship is so I want to ensure a safe and boundaried first connection.
I can be flexible with timings (including alternative days) so please ask and I will try to help.
