About me
If now is the right time to talk about something that is troubling you, please contact me. It may be that you are struggling with anxiety and low mood. Perhaps you have experienced loss or trauma or just feel you would like to make some changes to your life. I understand that this step is not always an easy one, but I will listen without judgement and offer a safe, supportive environment to enable you to talk freely. Talking together can help to clarify things and find a way through. I welcome clients from all backgrounds and life stages, from young adulthood through to later life.
I am a qualified counsellor with many years’ experience, and I work online or face to face. I am happy to ‘Walk and Talk’ if that would be more comfortable for you. Being outside in nature can offer huge benefits to our well-being and some people find it easier to talk while walking side by side. I also offer Life Coaching sessions if you would like to explore moving forward and achieving new goals.
It can sometimes be hard to know where to start and what you want. My work is integrative, which means I can draw on a range of different theories to help you unravel what is important to you, and what changes, if any, you would like to make and how. Please get in touch if you would like a free telephone consultation to discuss how counselling can help you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a professional, qualified counsellor with many years’ experience and I am registered with the BACP.
I started my counselling training in 2000 and worked for 2 years as a counsellor and group facilitator with an alcohol and drug agency. I qualified with the NCFE in 2005 and since then my work has focused on supporting people’s psychological health in a number of settings. I have worked within GP’s surgeries in community settings and in private practise. I was students' counsellor within a secondary school for over 10 years and supported students' well-being in a local Wiltshire college.
I am experienced in counselling carers and worked for 6 years as a specialist support for people affected by dementia and their families.
Over the years I have attended training courses in many specialist areas including working with couples, bereavement therapy (with CRUSE), life coaching and most recently, animal assisted therapy. My work is integrative (using a variety of different theories) and this allows me to offer an individual approach for each client that fits to your specific requirements.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
