Training, qualifications & experience
What your sessions look like
The first session is a chance to talk about what’s brought you to counselling and what you hope to gain. Together, we can decide where to start or set goals if that feels helpful. I’ll support you to build a framework that helps you understand your feelings and how to use that understanding in your day‑to‑day life.
It’s completely understandable to want to rush through something painful. I’ll help you share things at your own pace, checking in as we go. If something doesn’t feel okay to talk about, we can set it aside until you’re ready.
As we work together, we’ll explore your experiences in more depth and look at what you might want to do differently in how you think, feel, or respond. I’ll use counselling skills such as reflection and open questions to help you see new perspectives and support you to make sense of your experiences, that makes sense for you.
You can have as many sessions as you need. When you decide to end, a final session can help bring things to a natural close and explore any resources that might support you going forward.
Qualifications and training
I’m trained in a range of therapeutic approaches and hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), a Motivational Interviewing certificate, a certificate in Solution‑Focused Practice, and first‑stage teacher training in mindfulness
Continual professional development (CPD) is central to working safely and effectively with you. It’s important to me to stay up to date with new learning in the counselling and psychotherapy field. In the past year, I’ve completed training in first aid in the workplace, safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, working with young people, and counselling in the digital world, and I have a National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) professional accreditation award pending. This ongoing learning supports my commitment to working with you in ways that are ethical, inclusive, and responsive to your individual needs.
Experience
I have extensive experience as a counsellor and health coach, working across voluntary organisations, the NHS, and local community health providers. I’m trained to deliver brief interventions for people experiencing dependency issues, and I’ve supported individuals with a wide range of mental health and wellbeing needs. I’ve also delivered mental health awareness courses to community groups, helping people build understanding, confidence, and practical tools to support themselves and others.

school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Neurodiversity
I have extensive experience supporting adults and young people who may or may not have a diagnosis of a Specific Learning Difficulty (SpLD). Whether you’re already familiar with neurodiversity or are simply exploring what might fit for you, we can look together at the challenges you’re facing. I can help you slow your thoughts, make sense of what’s going on, and develop your own ‘life support system’ of tools and resources to help you navigate the world in a way that works for you.
