About me

From my own experiences with mental health challenges, I understand how crucial it is to have a safe space where you can truly be seen and heard. I am committed to providing a non-judgmental, open-minded environment where you are at the center of your own therapy.

As an Integrative Counsellor, I draw on a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Psychodynamic, Behavioral/CBT, and Humanistic approaches. This allows me to tailor my work to meet the unique needs of each individual, rather than adhering to a single method.

I have a special interest in Psychodynamic Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). With over 30 years of experience in healthcare, I am passionate about taking a holistic approach to health and family dynamics.

My counselling experience includes supporting individuals facing mental health challenges related to pregnancy, fertility issues, menopause, chronic and acute illnesses, cancers, depression and depressive disorders, anxiety and panic disorders, trauma, and addiction. Or simply feeling 'stuck'.

I look forward to working with you on your journey towards healing and self-discovery to be the best version of yourself.

Training, qualifications & experience

After completing an FdSc in Counselling, I have spent several years as a counsellor, supporting individuals facing a wide range of mental health challenges across different walks of life. During this time, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the importance of providing a safe space where you can explore your mental health, gain clarity, and achieve the changes you both need and deserve.

In addition to counselling, I bring over 30 years of experience in healthcare. My background in nursing was focused on cancer care and end-of-life support, while my midwifery practice covered all aspects of pregnancy, offering personalized, continuous care.

I have worked in both public and private sectors and collaborated with teams of psychologists in healthcare settings. I have a special interest in women's mental health throughout all stages of life, while also recognizing the unique challenges men face in managing their mental health.

I have extensive experience in grief, bereavement, and other life-altering events. My broad expertise from healthcare and counselling has shaped my belief in a holistic approach to health, which I am deeply passionate about.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
