About me

Hello, I'm Anita, a qualified person-centred counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I offer online and telephone counselling to adults across the UK, providing a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental space where you can explore whatever is on your mind at your own pace.

Many of the people I work with feel overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally exhausted, stuck, or disconnected from themselves. You may be struggling with low self-esteem, people-pleasing, difficult relationships, life transitions, addiction, recovery, grief, loss, neurodiversity, or a sense that you've lost sight of who you are beneath the demands of everyday life.

My approach is warm, genuine, and compassionate. I believe that counselling is not about fixing who you are, but about helping you better understand yourself, your experiences, and the patterns that may be holding you back. Together, we can create a space where you feel heard, accepted, and supported as you reconnect with yourself and move towards the life you want to live.

Alongside my professional training, I bring lived experience of recovery, single parenthood, neurodiversity within my family, grief, and significant life changes. This helps me offer therapy with authenticity, empathy, and understanding.

I offer a free initial consultation, giving you the opportunity to ask questions and decide whether I am the right counsellor for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), working within the BACP Ethical Framework.

My professional background includes a Psychology degree and many years of experience supporting individuals within education, including working with children, young people, and adults with additional needs, autism, ADHD, and complex life challenges.

Alongside my counselling training, I have undertaken continuing professional development (CPD) in areas including trauma-informed practice, addiction and recovery, neurodiversity, ADHD, rejection sensitive dysphoria (RSD), grief and loss, and mental health and wellbeing.

My experience includes working with clients experiencing:

  • Anxiety and emotional overwhelm
  • Low self-esteem and self-doubt
  • Addiction and recovery
  • Relationship difficulties
  • People-pleasing and boundary issues
  • Neurodiversity (ADHD and autism)
  • Grief, loss and life transitions
  • Identity, purpose and self-discovery

In addition to my professional training, I bring lived experience of recovery, single parenthood, neurodiversity within my family, career change, grief, and significant life transitions. These experiences help me offer a compassionate, genuine, and understanding approach while maintaining professional boundaries and ethical practice.

I am committed to ongoing professional development, regular clinical supervision, and providing a safe, reflective, and supportive space for every client.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
