About me
Helping your child thrive
Specialised Counselling for Children, Teens and Young Adults (4-25)
I am an accredited BACP counsellor with 30 years of experience as a teacher, SEND specialist, parent, and counsellor, and offer compassionate support for children, young adults (ages 4-25), and families. I'm also Barnardo's child-related adoption trained (Ofsted registered). I use a creative approach to help families tackle the challenges of education, friendships, and identity. We will work towards a greater understanding of the difficulties you are experiencing, exploring solutions and fostering wellbeing for the whole family.
I offer after-school and evening appointments, seeing clients in person, online or over the phone.
How Counselling Helps
From my own personal experience, and from client feedback, I know how important it is to seek professional help early. Addressing issues such as poor self-esteem, anxiety, or depression promptly means that solutions can be found before problems get worse.
Play and creative approaches, as well as talking therapies, allow children to express themselves naturally. Through counselling, they can explore and understand their emotions, develop problem-solving and social skills and better manage their feelings.
Counselling helps children and young adults feel happier and more confident. They feel heard, less anxious or depressed and less likely to turn to self-destructive thoughts and behaviours.
Areas of Expertise
I work creatively using a variety of age-appropriate techniques such as games, stories, art, sand tray and clay therapy. I am experienced in a number of different issues affecting young people, including:

- Anxiety

- OCD

Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
