About me
Hello, my name is Andrew Hope. I am a qualified therapist and supervisor and offer professional counselling to individuals with a diversity of presentations.
I have extensive experience of working with depression, anxiety, bereavement, low self esteem, sexual abuse, emotional and relationship issues (both current and from the past), and special needs. I also work with those who may have lost their way in life and who may want to work creatively to enhance self or personal development to achieve their full potential.
I offer a specialist service of working with mental health and spirituality related issues.
I have experience of providing support with a wide range of mental health issues (particularly schizophrenia, psychosis and hearing voices), and in helping individuals to begin to understand what may have caused or be maintaining present difficulties. This may involve addressing the stigma of initial psychiatric assessment and helping individuals to find solutions or develop coping strategies for often ongoing and distressing symptoms.
You may want to explore issues that relate to faith or personal beliefs, either because they give your life meaning or hope and are important to your personal development, or because you may have had some difficult or judgemental experiences that have impacted upon your health or sense of well being? You will be able to share without feeling judged so that you can begin to address the issues that may be causing you concern or distress.
I provide a safe, non judgemental and therapeutic environment that will help you to feel relaxed and to explore the things in your life that are really important to you.
I practice from a comfortable garden office at home in Shipley Park, Heanor, situated between Nottingham and Derby.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
