About me
Hi, I'm Andrew - an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist experienced in working with adults aged 18 and over. If life feels especially difficult to cope with at present or your feelings seem to overwhelm you, then you don't need to simply put on a brave face, 'knuckle down and carry on'. You can know yourself better, heal from past wounds and develop skills, understanding and greater self-awareness to move forward in life more freely and purposefully. I may be able to help.
If you could you do with support in taking steps towards healing and wholeness, developing strategies for better functioning, or walking more fully in your purpose then I'd love to come alongside you with an approach and at a pace that's right for you.
My training is in an integrative model, which simply means I can draw on a variety of approaches and skills as we work through whatever you bring to counselling.
I have a specific interest in neurodivergence, in particular ADHD, and welcome you if that may be relevant to your experience of life.

Training, qualifications & experience

My experience includes working with anxiety, depression, bereavement and loss, trauma, low self-esteem, anger, spiritual issues, relationship difficulties and difficulties relating to neurodivergence.
Prior to training as a counsellor/therapist, I worked in a corporate job in London and in a lead role for 18 years of a charity providing pastoral care, mentoring and coaching for people of diverse ages and cultures, through a range of life issues. I am able to work with spirituality if that is what you as a client would like to bring.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
The Association of Christians in Counselling and Linked Professions (ACC) is a Christian professional membership organisation for those involved in counselling/psychotherapy and linked professions, i.e. pastoral care, coaching and spiritual direction, in the UK. The organisation is made up of various different membership categories, including Counsellor and Accredited, and requires all members working as counsellors to undertake Continuous Professional Development on a regular basis.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
