About me

Life can be challenging at the best of times, and when something unexpected happens you may find yourself thrown off track or overwhelmed. It is perfectly normal not to be able to cope sometimes and it does not mean there is anything wrong with you

Alternatively, you might have a sense of being at a standstill in life or of something being missing, lacking motivation, direction or self-belief, or feel anxious but are unsure why. Seeking help at a time of uncertainty or when you are feeling vulnerable shows courage and a desire for change

I offer a safe and supportive space for you to talk openly about your thoughts, feelings and what is worrying you without being given advice or judged, and where you can be your authentic self

Being an integrative counsellor enables me to work adaptively and holistically through a combination of person-centred, gestalt and psychodynamic theory. The intention is to help you gain a greater sense of self, and develop a reliance on your own worth and decisions by providing honest feedback on what is being heard and observed

The counselling I provide is a partnership based on trust, respect and equality, and will be taken at a pace that works for you. Counselling can be very rewarding and life-enhancing, but it can also be difficult. I will support you along the way, whilst encouraging you to find your own solutions to the obstacles or challenges you are facing

My ultimate hope is that you learn to accept yourself as a whole by embracing your uniqueness and develop self-compassion to allow yourself to make mistakes, be spontaneous and enjoy being you

Training, qualifications & experience

Having faced my own struggles in the past with anxiety, confidence, loneliness, low mood, bereavement and self-worth, these are the areas I feel most adept at working with

But equally, I am comfortable in working with a range of other issues including work-related stress, gender identity, emotional control and relationships, and I am experienced in supporting young adults aged between 18-24

My counselling qualifications are as follows;

  • Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (CPCAB)

  • Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills (CPCAB)

  • Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills (CPCAB)

I have completed additional training and research on the grief process, unplanned endings, working with difference, diversity and inclusion, social anxiety, the role of shame in trauma and belief systems to enhance my knowledge

I am a registered member of BACP and the Psychological Protection Society

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Wheelchair user access info
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

The premises I work from in Chelmsford are at ground floor level and accessible to smaller sized wheelchairs with a door width of 28 inches
